Fabrangen
Auction
Sunday,
March 19 from 2:30-5:00 p.m.
Thanks
from Fran Goldman & Deb Kolodny:
"We
had about 100 people in attendance, an incredible array of donated
items, delicious food, fun entertainment, and we raised a significant
amount money to support our community and even brought in one new
member. While the final tally is not
yet final, it appears that we have raised close to $6,000!!!
A
very big and heartfelt todah rabah to Deb Kolodny who
conceived of the Silent Auction and created and chaired
the Fundraising Committee until mid-February (only a major
snowstorm stopped her!). Simply put, without her energy,
leadership, and creativity, this event would not have happened.
And,
oh the items that people donated! That challah cover from Ann-Marie
Deutsch. The two
quilts from Ellen Garshick, the mezuzah from Rachel
Braun, the photo montage from Lloyd Wolf and the
mizrach from Elena Rodriguez. And the services! The car wash,
the kayak trip, the Capital tour, the scrabble game, the zoo trip. And the
cd's, the books, the judaica. The challot from Deena Goldsmith and
the meals from Gilah Langner and Martin Weil,
and the month's work of fruits and vegetables and on and on. WOW!
A special thanks to Clare Feinson who did an UNBELIEVABLE
amount of work in taking donations and making bid forms and certificates for
everything, to Bob Rovinsky for securing Gails' Vegetarian
Catering to donate amazing food and serve it too! to Gloria
Whitman for getting the snacks and to Melissa Kahn for
all those nuts and dried fruits that we were going to use for the seder, to Fran
Goldman for helping all along the way and for taking over the overall
leadership from Deb Kolodny and to Bracha Laster and Laurie
Krieger for rounding out the fundraising committee, helping to plan
and direct the event.
Today rabah and yasher koach to ...
-- Braha Laster who handled the check-out, along with her
able crew of Laurie Krieger, Ruth Lis, and Debbie
Goldman
-- Laurie Krieger who coordinated music for the auction from
a half-world away in the Philippines where she has been travelling for work
the last several weeks, and to all those who brought CD's,
... to Sarah LaRue who handled childcare today so that parents
could spend their time bidding rather than babysitting.
... to Jerry Stilkind, Gerry Garfinckel, and Caleb
Kreisberg who helped set-up and provided extra hands whenever asked
... to Rhonda Weiss, Allen Hirsch, Melissa Kahn, and Gloria
Whitman who bought the food and drinks for today's auction
... to Elena Rodriguez who handled the admissions table today,
along with Grace Horowitz, Sue Hoechstetter, and Gloria
Whitman
... to the fabulous entertainment of Bob Rovinsky (storytelling)
and Richard Gladstein (guitar & singing)
... and a repeat thank-you to Gail Naftalin / Gail's Vegeterian
Catering (www.gailsvegetarian.com)
for the delicious passed appetizers and brownies
... and, last but certainly not least, a big thank-you to everyone who donated
and everyone who bid. The whole community was involved and we are enriched
by it."
