Am Kolel Jewish Renewal Community and Jews United for Justice are hosting a community-wide Shushan Purim Party and Rally to Bring Down Walls of Bigotry and Injustice. It will take place Thursday, March 21, from 7:30 to 10:00 PM at Temple Shalom, 8401 Grubb Road, Chevy Chase, MD 20815. View Map.Purim is a celebration of a victory over tyranny. The purpose of this event is to bring together in joy all social justice advocates. The event honors longtime activist  and Fabrangen member Michael Tabor of Takoma Park. Tabor has been at the forefront of social activism locally and regionally since the mid 1960s when he founded Jews for Urban Justice. Congressman Jamie Raskin and County Executive Marc Elrich will also speak at the event.The evening will feature dance music by DJ Mike Conway & Natalie Dodson, the Fabrangen Fiddlers, finger food, hamantaschen and drinks. There will also be a Take-Action Table sponsored by JUJF to address issues of bigotry and injustice in our society. Other co-sponsors include the Fabrangen Havurah, Kehila Chadasha, the Cheder Community and theProgressive Neighbors Committee. Proceeds will go to JUFJ.Tickets are by donation. Suggested donations are $25 for the general public, $18 for seniors over 65, and $10 for youth can be offered at the door or on line at this web page.
