Tisha B’Av, the ninth day of the month of Av, commemorates the destruction of the two Temples in Jerusalem, as well as many other calamities that have befallen the Jewish people. We read Eicha (the Book of Lamentations) in a setting reminiscent of sitting shiva, along with a short service and the singing of kinot, or elegies, sad songs about our misfortunes over time.
Fabrangen holds Tisha B’Av services every year. Please check the calendar for more information.
In 2013, Fabrangen members prepared for Tisha B’Av with meditations, poems, writings, and remembrances at Fablog: The Three Weeks.
